January & February 2023

Learn About the Plan &
Help Create it!

Ecology Action Centre (EAC) and AHOI are traveling across Newfoundland and connecting virtually with parts of Labrador, to enrich a Community-led Marine Plan for the Gros Morne region! We want to share our progress and provide an opportunity for people to provide feedback and further input.

The aim of the project is to create a marine spatial plan for the Gros Morne region with close involvement of the communities and people who are connected to its coastal and marine areas. The project identifies best-fit areas for fishing, recreation, tourism and potential areas for increased marine protection. The resulting plan will help decision-makers better manage our oceans in a more sustainable way for generations to come.

Check out the dates below! More dates and locations will be announced.

Beach Cleanup & Bird Break

A cleaner beach not only has benefits for marine species, but also those that live in coastal areas.  With the snow melted and summer on its way, many of our feathered friends - some of whom nest in the salt marshes and beaches - are returning from their winter vacations in warmer climates.

Join us for a beach clean up and a chance to learn about the birds in our area from our friends at Parks Canada! While you're at it, enjoy a  coffee, compliments of Gros Morne Coffee Roasters!
